What New Games Will Be at This Month's Texas Pinball Festival?

Writer's picture: JasonJason

Happy March everyone. I'm thrilled that March is here for a number of reasons. One is that it might actually warm up around here. It was COLD here in New Jersey yesterday as I worked on cleaning out my garage so that I can fit more games in lol.

The second reason is that the Texas Pinball Festival is this month. Specifically, it is scheduled to take place from March 21st through the 23rd in Frisco, Texas.

I've started to put my ear to the ground to try to find out what games we may or may not see at TPF. Here's what I've come up with so far...

I heard some rumblings that American Pinball's next game may not be out as early as I had initially heard, so I reached out to some folks and it has indeed been slightly delayed.

Cuphead will NOT be at the upcoming Texas Pinball Festival or Midwest Gaming Classic shows as some had hoped. At this point, it is estimated that the game will be ready by May or June.

A new game that I'm starting to think we may actually see in Texas is Barrels of Fun's second pinball machine. Here's why:

The Texas Pinball Festival has a list of games that people are bringing to the show up on its website. The table has columns for who is bring the game, the name of the game and the year that it came out. Here's what it currently lists for Barrels:

They are the only person or company bringing games to the event with the Title listed as "TBA." There's no guarantee that this mysterious entry in the table for Barrels of Fun means that it will bring a new game to the event, but they definitely left a window open to do so.

Another manufacturer that I believe has a good chance of bringing a new game to TPF is Multimorphic. The Texas Pinball Festival is their home town show and they have already wrapped up production of all of the pre-ordered Princess Bride modules. It is very possible that Multimorphic will show off its next game, rumored here to be based on the video game franchise Portal, later this month.

The last four Multimorphic new game reveals have all been in February or March (see below).

TPF is an in-state show for another pinball manufacturer, Turner Pinball. Turner announced recently that it is halfway through building the orders for its debut game Ninja Eclipse. That makes it unlikely that Turner will have an actual game at the show, but there's whispers that Turner may have something big up its sleeve. I've reached out to them for confirmation and will report back one way or another later at some point.

Despite rumors last year that it might be ready as early as March, there's talk that Jersey Jack Pinball's next game, strongly rumored to be based on the Harry Potter franchise, will not be at TPF.

Stern Pinball is still working hard cranking out new Dungeons & Dragons pinball machines. The game will be at the show, but probably nothing else new.

Similarly, Spooky Pinball pinball announced earlier today that it will be at TPF with its newest game, Evil Dead.

"It's March! Which means Texas Pinball Festival is just around the corner! Our Spooky Crew will be there in full force bringing LOTS and LOTS of games!

What's your favorite TPF memory? We've been going to this show for about 10 years now, so we've made countless lifelong memories."

That's all I have for now. If you've heard anything else interesting that will be at the show, reach out and let me know at knapparcade@gmail.com. Thanks!
