What I’m Hearing…Spooky Pinball

This week I have decided to do a series of posts here called “What I’m Hearing” about various pinball manufacturers. Yesterday I wrote one about Stern Pinball.

Next up is Spooky Pinball. Spooky continues to build its newest dual game release, Looney Tunes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Some machines in the 888 unit run of each game are still available.

Spooky Pinball has said over the past several months that they typically reveal new games in December and that will be the case again this year. As hard as it is to believe, December is only three months away.

There’s been a lot of rumors out there about what the theme of Spooky’s next game will be, ranging from Evil Dead to Gremlins to Futurama to Beetlejuice. Based on what I have heard, I’m personally putting my money on the 1985 film The Goonies. I’m not nearly as confident about this prediction as I was about my Stern predictions, but that’s my guess and I’m sticking with it.

I don’t know how this is possible, time flies, but 2025 represents the 40th anniversary of the original Goonies movie. Interestingly, Goonies has been in the news lately because there’s a rumor out there that the original cast is filming a sequel. Members of the original cast have come out and denied that it’s happening though.

In other Spooky Pinball news, there has been chatter out there for a number of months that the company might build a run of the cool Motörhead homebrew pinball machine that they recently helped the New Zealander David Peck build. I was recently told that this is not happening because another pinball manufacturer swooped in and snapped up the Motörhead license. I’m trying to find out more information on this so I’m not sure how accurate that is, but I think that I believe it.
