This morning, Planetary Pinball - rights holder for the Williams Bally pinball intellectual property, made two big announcements.
First they confirmed that the long-awaited new run of Chicago Gaming Company’s Medieval Madness 🏰 Remake is happening soon. As the owner of the rights to the IP, Planetary is the largest CGC distributor.
There has been talk for a while now, that this new run will be significant, 1,000 units or more. Hopefully, we get more details from CGC soon.
Word from distributors is that the new Medevil Madness will be called the “Merlin Edition” and come with blue powder coating, a shaker motor, and mirrored art blades.
In other remake news, Planetary also confirmed the imminent arrival of the new Chicago Gaming Company extended code for the Cactus Canyon 🌵 Remake.
Created by the legendary Lyman Sheats and Josh Sharpe, the expanded code adds 10 new modes, 2 enhanced modes, new animations, new music and a saloon bash door mechanism and spinner that was in the game’s original 1998 Bally game’s design but was eliminated for cost back in the day.
Pricing for the CC expansion is coming “soon” and they will begin shipping starting “mid-year.”
The game roster for this week’s Texas Pinball Festival lists two Cactus Canyon SE+ machines with the new mech, so attendees should be able to try out the new code for themselves.
Neither of these items were secrets, but it will be nice to finally get some clarity on them and see them hit the market.
