I have big news from the world of pinball toppers for everyone this morning. The Electric Playground (TEP), the premiere manufacturer of aftermarket toppers for pinball machines, is about to launch two new toppers.
The first is a "Double Tap" topper for Play Mechanix and Chicago Gaming Company's Pulp Fiction Special Edition pinball machine. Featuring art by Brad Albright, this highly interactive topper will have mechanical movement that is tied to in-game action and light shows that match various modes of the game. It is scheduled to be revealed at the upcoming Texas Pinball Festival, which takes place from March 21st through the 23rd. Pricing and availability for the topper will be announced soon. Interested parties can sign up for the waitlist on TEP's website.
The Pulp Fiction topper will be the first project of TEP's new full-time product engineer, Nick Neitzel. Most of you will know Nick from his amazing homebrew game "Tony Hawk's Pro Pinball." Tony Hawk made its public debut at the Chicago Pinball Expo in October to rave reviews. I have included a link below to my earlier article about the project.
Nick will bring his personal experience building homebrew pinball machines, operating his own pinball repair and restoration business and 10+ years of experience working on electrical systems in the military and aviation industries to the company. He will work closely with the TEP's Rob and Alec on new product development and will help to expand production output at The Electric Playground's new production facility, which it opened in October.
TEP's second new project is an upgrade that will be available for Dutch Pinball Exclusive's upcoming Alice's Adventures in Wonderland pinball machine. This easy-to-install expansion to the game's topper will add dynamic lighting that is synced to the machine's RGB LED interactive side rails. An additional interactive feature for this topper expansion is in the works as well. Like with the Pulp topper, pricing and availability of the Alice topper will be announced soon.
