After all of the intriguing teasers over the past few weeks, it's finally the moment we've all been anxiously awaiting...reveal day for Dutch Pinball Exclusive's new game - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland! Moments ago, DPX shared pictures and details of the game on its social media channels.
Even though he had no involvement in the current project, the game definitely has that John Popadiuk vibe. As a refresher, the original concept for the game was developed by Popadiuk as a paper mockup with black and white art by current Stern Pinball and then freelance artist Zombie Yeti.
Melvin Williams purchased the existing assets for the game from the individuals who owned the remaining assets of Zidware, John Popadiuk's now defunct company. Zombie Yeti declined to finish his earlier art on the project when approached. The paper concept was finished and made into an actual pinball machine by Melvin and Dutch Pinball, the beloved Big Lebowski pinball machine, unlike John's later titles this game actually works. It is being sold under the Dutch Pinball Exclusive brand. To me, the game definitely gives off very Theatre of Magic and Magic Girl vibes, which were both Popadiuk games.
I have not yet seen what the layout plays like or the code, [UPDATE there is now video of it in action below] but I can say after looking at all of the high res pictures the attention to detail and quality of the sculpts and mechs in this game is truly impressive.
Production of the game is limited to 500 units. It is priced at $12,499 USD and is for sale through three U.S. distributors, Cointaker, Pinball Traders and Great American Pinball ( https://www.dutchpinball.com/distributors ). Distros are taking $1,500 deposits on the game, which is fully refundable if the buyer's specific game doesn't ship by January 1, 2026. DPX currently expects to begin shipping games in January 2025 and to get them out at a pace of 30 to 40 games per month.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will be available for the public to play at the upcoming Chicago Pinball Expo, which takes place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Illinois from October 15th through the 19th. So we'll be hands-on with the game next week!
Below are all of the details and pictures. A video trailer is supposedly coming shortly. I will update this article as soon as it's out, so make sure to check back to see this baby in action!
"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (also known as Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 English novel by Lewis Carroll.
The story centers on Alice, a girl who falls asleep in a meadow and dreams that she follows the White Rabbit down a rabbit hole. She has many wondrous, often bizarre adventures with thoroughly illogical and very strange creatures. She encounters the hookah-smoking Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat, and she attends a strange endless tea party with the Mad Hatter and many others.
Just as Lewis Carroll's black-and-white book inspired generations, lead designer Melvin Williams took John Popadiuk Jr. (aka JPOP)'s black-and-white concept game and created a new chapter in pinball history. From a few pieces of paper, the game evolved into a true masterpiece in full colour, incorporating state-of-the-art 2024 technology. Melvin aimed not only to create the best '90s-feel pinball machine but also to craft something that is a work of art, like a beautiful painting for your home. Every time you look at it, you experience new thoughts and emotions.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (AAIW) is a pinball machine crafted in the style of the Bally Williams pinball machines from the '90s era we all love, and it stands its ground against the best of them. While it follows the best principles of those classic machines, it incorporates modern techniques like fully controlled RGB LEDs, a large LCD display, a deeper yet accessible ruleset, and more. It truly brings the world of Alice to life as envisioned by Dutch Pinball Exclusive and is genuinely a world under glass."

Looks neat.
I know this might seem minor, but I like that it doesn't have all black rubber rings. I wish all games had lighter color or clear rubber rings to keep the game cleaner.
Holy crap this looks gorgeous. Shame only 500 being made.
