This is the last arcade write-up from my family vacation last week. If you missed any of the other three, make sure to scroll back on the first page to check them out.
My main takeaway from here is how despite lackluster sales, how well John Wick is doing on location. The Wick at The Control Room was literally being played non-stop the entire time I was there (I couldn't even get pictures of it). I just spoke with a couple of other large public arcades who told me that it is currently their top earning game. People seem to like the contracts and given how few of them are out there people hunt for Insider Connected achievements when they find one. I know that I definitely would.
"This brings us to Colorado Arcade #3. I had to squeeze something in between a morning e-bike tour, a trip to a brewery for lunch and an evening dinner at Flying W Ranch while the rest of my family rested. I really wanted to go to Bite Me Cake Company / Flip A Coin Arcade Bar but it was just too far a drive from where I was at, so I pulled up Pinball Map and went with what seemed to be the best arcade within a short drive of my hotel and landed on The Control Room Arcade Bar in Colorado Springs.
As an arcade bar, The Control Room has both food and beverages, which is always a nice bonus. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to partake in either. I did however have time to play a little pinball. They had a very solid lineup of seven of the newest games out there:
Stern Pinball JAWS Pro
Stern Pinball John Wick Pro
Stern Pinball Godzilla Pro
Chicago Gaming / Raw Thrills Pulpn Fiction SE
Chicago Gaming Cactus Canyon
Stern Pinball Stranger Things Pro
Stern Pinball Venom Pro
Every pin that I hopped on played great. Alas, two dudes were hogging the John Wick, they must have pumped over $20 bucks into that thing while I was there, so I didn’t get to play that this time. If I had more time I would have asked to squeeze in but my trip was short. Besides I played the heck out of Wick on my recent trip to Chicago anyhow.
Beyond the pinball, The Control Room had a solid collection of classic arcade games, like Centipede, Frogger , etc… they had a bar-height mechanical Pong, a 4-player Pac-Man Battle Royal (which is always a big hit at bars), Skee-Ball, Pop-A-Shot and a bunch of drivers and shooters…basically everything that you would expect or want from a good arcade bar.
