Closeup of the Translite for Stern Pinball's JAWS Premium

Writer's picture: JasonJason

Today was the big day! We got all of the details on Stern Pinball's fantastic new Keith Elwin-designed JAWS pinball machine. I personally am the most excited about the Premium version of the game.

Check out this closeup of that version's translite by artist Michael Barnard. Kudos to him! It's so awesome that I ran right over here to share it :). That's the version of the game that I will likely get when I buy one.

I just ordered a premium but u wish it came with the original movie poster glass. I will be replacing the one it comes with.

I really don't care for the Premium translite. The original movie poster looks incredible! Hopefully the Pro or LE version can be bought separately.

I'm sure that one could easily get a replacement Pro translite and swap it with the Premium if they wanted to.

Premium translite is the absolute worst option…why replace the iconic Jaws poster with a poorly drawn cartoon?

Pro and Premium translites are usually available from Marcos or Pinball Life

That translite was the first thing that caught my eye, pushed me over the edge to order a Premium!

I gotta say, this artwork is probably the worst I've seen from stern. I usually am completely fine with their art, but this one looks really off. The painting looks like like it was colored in markers and drawn on a posterboard. I use to work in the game industry and work with a lot of artists....I can definitely say this looks on par with indie mobile games. The LE backglass is definitely the way to go if you can manage to get one.

Eh, it's a little cartoony, but I see it more like a comic book art version of the scene. I do like the look of the iconic poster, but I wouldn't kick this one out of bed for eating crackers.
