The iconic 1980's movie Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson, has been the proverbial White Whale š³ theme of the pinball industry for many years. There are people, Eric Jackson cough, who literally post on the Internet every single day clamoring for a new Back to the Future (BTTF) pinball machine.
In recent years, there has been rumors that the industry veteran and more recently obtainer of difficult pinball themes, Joe Kaminkow, was going to secure the license for Stern Pinball. Joe was literally involved in bringing the Back to the Future license to Broadway and has spoken about that on social media, so the BTTF to Stern chatter made sense.
Well, Back to the Future pinball is indeed supposedly coming at some point during calendar year 2024, but not from the Company that everyone expected. As originally reported by Kaneda's Pinball Podcast a week or two ago, I've recently heard from another completely independent source that the game is being made by Dutch Pinball.
That's right, Back to the Future from Dutch Pinball in 2024. Now the Company has not officially confirmed this but I'd put money on it happening. We'll see. I hope so.
So what does everyone think? Would you be interested in buying a Back to the Future pin? I know that I certainly would. If it does come from Dutch and it's anything like the Company's first game The Big Lebowski, it will be a home run.
I've got an original Back to the Future Pinball so I don't care what they do. š
I think we are going to see Dutch partner with another manufacturer to increase production here in the US...Stern helped build games for CGC.
Out of Garyās own mouth heās stated Stern does not have the license. Greedy Stern would scalp us for sure if they made BTTF. ZY also confirmed recently Stern doesnāt have the license from any source.
Hopefully this one will actually have renditions of 'Marty' in MJFs likeness, and not hiding behind sunglasses again.
They would nail this theme. Hope itās true.
