Last week Atari teased on its Facebook page that it was going to roll out some sort of pinball-related product in several days. Flash forward to today and we now know what it is. Unsurprisingly, it's not real, physical pinball but rather a collection of digital pinball tables called "Balls of Steel."
Back in the late 90s, a company named Wildfire Studios released the original "Balls of Steel" game for PC and it was pretty well received. In conjunction with a developer named Big Boat Interactive, Atari has picked up the baton for that IP and reintroduced it on Steam today. The game includes versions of the five original tables in the game as well as two new digital tables based on the Atari properties, Centipede and Missile Command.
I'm a complete sucker for anything Atari or retro-gaming related so at $8.99 for the whole thing, this was an instant buy for me. I'll check it out for everyone. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'll boot it up on my Steam Deck later.
Below is a link to the game's steam page and pictures of all of the tables.
Curious to see how well these would run on a virtual cabinet. Probably not great unless there's option to rotate the table 90 degrees...
